Flower Crafts at Peralta

Full Throttle in February

February brings more than just hearts and flowers; it marks a season of real momentum. As we turn the page on January, we’re pausing to celebrate our students’ recent achievements across AJUSD while looking ahead to the exciting milestones yet to come!

Campus Spotlights

Taking Flight: AJHS Launches A3-U Drone Program

The future of technology landed at AJHS this month! Our A3-U open house allowed students and parents to go hands-on with the latest in drone technology.

This elective focuses on geospatial technology and the practical application of drones in public safety and law enforcement. By mastering flight physics and navigation, students aren't just flying for fun—they are gaining technical mastery in a field that is essential to modern infrastructure.

We are thrilled to offer our students a path to becoming certified drone pilots!

Collaboration at Cactus Canyon

Cactus Canyon Junior High AVID students recently engaged in a high-stakes teamwork challenge: the Play Dough Duck reconstruction.

This exercise wasn't just about creativity; it was a deep dive into collaborative problem-solving. Students had to utilize precise verbal communication and attention to detail to replicate a model, mirroring the soft skills required in collegiate environments and future careers.

At CCJH, we know that how students work together is just as important as the work they produce.

Big Buddies, Little Readers at The Academy

Magic happens when different generations of students come together!

At The Classical Academy at Superstition Mountain, Mrs. Jones’s kindergartners welcomed some very special guests: their 5th-grade peers. The older students shared favorite stories and used engaging questions to help our youngest learners dive deep into the plot.

This cross-grade collaboration is a beautiful way to foster both reading confidence and a lifelong love for books!

Future Hydrologists at Four Peaks!

At Four Peaks, Mrs. John’s 4th graders turned their classroom into a hands-on laboratory to study the power of water!

Students engineered their own river channels using sand, soil, and hills to simulate real-world terrain. By "making it rain," they witnessed the saturation process firsthand, carefully recording daily observations as the soil transitioned from absorbing water to a full-scale flood. It was a fantastic way to see science in action!

Focus on Physical Education & Wellness at Desert Vista

Desert Vista Elementary launched its annual Kids Heart Challenge with a high-energy assembly focused on community impact and cardiovascular wellness. This initiative serves as a vital lesson in philanthropy, allowing students to see firsthand how collective action can support the American Heart Association’s life-saving mission.

Leading up to their upcoming event on February 11th, students have been learning about heart health and setting ambitious goals. The school is currently striving toward a $5,000 target—a milestone that carries the ultimate reward: seeing Principal Mrs. Fant duct-taped to the wall!

We are incredibly proud of our students for transforming a physical education goal into a powerful lesson in social responsibility.

Forensic Literacy at Peralta Trail!

Peralta Trail students became literary detectives this month in Mrs. Hussain’s class! To solve a series of book crimes, students had to apply rigorous problem-solving strategies and collaborative communication.

They didn't just find the culprit; they built cases based on evidence, documented their findings, and defended their conclusions. It was an engaging way to turn good ol' problem-solving into an advanced exercise in logic and investigation!

100 Days Smarter across AJUSD

Dressing like 100 year olds

Celebrating 100 Days of Excellence

The 100th Day of School provided a wonderful opportunity for students to reflect on their growth mindset and progress since August. Classrooms were transformed as students celebrated 100 days of learning with hands-on STEM challenges and counting games.

By dressing up as centenarians and sharing their future aspirations, students combined humor with reflection, marking 100 days of hard work, curiosity, and community building.

Senior Night on the Mat

Families of Wrestlers

Honoring the Class of 2026

There wasn't a dry eye in the gym as AJHS Wrestling bid a fond farewell to our seniors.

Surrounded by family and presented with tokens of appreciation, these student-athletes were honored for their resilience throughout a fantastic season. From the opening whistle to the final senior walk, it was a night to remember.

We can’t wait to see where their next journey takes them!

Bus driver jobs with AJUSD

Drive Change with AJUSD Transportation

Our Transportation Department is now hiring bus drivers to help safely transport our students each day. This is a vital role that directly supports our schools, families, and community.

If you’re dependable, safety-minded, and looking for meaningful work with consistent hours, we’d love to hear from you.

Training is provided for qualified applicants.

PAC Coordinator Needed

Calling Arts Pros

AJUSD is hiring a Performing Arts Center Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operations of our district’s performance venue. This role supports school events, community use, rehearsals, and performances while ensuring the facility runs smoothly and professionally.

The coordinator works closely with staff, students, and outside groups to manage scheduling, setup, and logistics, playing a key role in supporting the arts across AJUSD.

Your Kindness. Their Future.

At AJUSD, we believe that learning doesn’t stop when the final bell rings. Extracurricular activities teach leadership, resilience, and teamwork—essential skills for every student’s journey.

You can support these "beyond the classroom" experiences by making a Tax Credit donation. This simple act of support allows you to tell the state exactly how you want your tax dollars spent: right here in Apache Junction for our kids. Join us in making a difference today!

The deadline to claim this on your 2025 taxes is April 15th! Make your impact today at ajusd.org/taxcredit.

A Thought for February

The Heart of a Community: Compassion in Action
In January, we spoke about the power of small habits and the steady effort that leads to student growth. As we move into February, a month traditionally centered on the heart, it is the perfect time to shift our focus toward how we can collectively support that growth.

In AJUSD, we believe that love for our district is best expressed through compassion in action. Choose to be present, choose to give, and a choose to invest in the future of our neighbors.

Coretta Scott King once shared a profound truth that guides this mindset: "The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members."

This month, I invite our community to find new ways to show up for our students. Compassion isn’t just a feeling; it is a verb. Here is how to put compassion into action this February:

Show Up for Student Voices: When you attend an event like The HeART of AJUSD on February 12th, you are doing more than experiencing art. You're witnessing student creativity across AJUSD and showing our kids that their perspective has value.

Invest in Their Passions: One of the most impactful ways to support our students is through a Tax Credit donation. This simple action allows you to direct your tax dollars specifically to the extracurricular activities: sports, music, STEM, recess and more! It's a zero-cost way to make a life-changing difference across our schools.

Fill the Stands: Our student-athletes learn resilience through competition. Be a voice in the crowd that cheers them on after a great play, encourages them after a setback, and celebrates their discipline and hard work regardless of the score.

Commit to Connection: Compassion also looks like continuity. By securing your child’s spot through re-enrollment, you are showing your student and our staff that you are committed to this journey together. You are choosing to remain part of a community that knows and supports your child.

When we choose simple, intentional, compassionate actions, we do more than just fund programs or fill a seat. We create a district where every student feels the warmth and support of a community standing behind them.

This month, let’s look for every opportunity to turn our compassion into action. Thank you for being the heart of AJUSD and for your continued partnership in putting our Kids First.
