Arizona's Healthy Schools Act (HB 2164) is now in effect

As of July 1, 2026, public schools that participate in federally funded meal programs may not serve or sell ultra-processed foods containing certain additives during the school day.
The law applies from midnight before the school day until 30 minutes after the instructional day ends and includes restrictions on foods containing:
• Potassium Bromate
• Propylparaben
• Brominated Vegetable Oil
• Titanium Dioxide
• Artificial food dyes (Yellow 5 & 6, Blue 1 & 2, Green 3, Red 3 & 40)
