DVES new tree

We are super excited to announce that we have been awarded 14 native trees through the Boyce Thompson Arboretum's 100 Tree Spree initiative!

The Boyce Thompson Arboretum's 100 Tree Spree initiative, launched as part of their centennial
celebration, has been a collaborative effort that brings together public institutions, schools, and nonprofits to plant 100 native trees throughout the Valley and its neighboring communities from October through December. The initiative aims to enhance the environment, combat the challenges posed by the ongoing climate crisis, and promote biodiversity through the planting of native trees. AJUSD Schools are among the esteemed recipients of this valuable initiative.

Trees such as Blue Palo Verdes, Foothill Palo Verdes, and Catclaw Acacias were delivered to our campuses today, and will be an ongoing "tree-at" for our students!

Dr. Robert Pappalardo, Superintendent of AJUSD, said "We are truly excited and grateful to be a part of this exceptional initiative. Trees are not just beautiful additions to our school grounds; they provide essential benefits to our environment and the community as a whole. They offer shade to our students, clean the air we breathe, and promote biodiversity in our local ecosystem."

Thank you Boyce Thompson Arboretum!
