Regular school attendance is essential for our students. The State Compulsory Attendance Law requires that students between the age of 6 and 18 must attend school. If your child is going to be absent, please call the school office at 480-677-7510. Please indicate your child’s first and last name, the date and the reason for their absence. If your child is tardy please make sure you come into the office and sign him/her in.
• Excused absences:
Examples of excused absences include illness, doctor’s appointments, family emergency, bereavement and religious holidays. In order for an absence to be excused, a parent/guardian must call or provide a note to the front office within 24 hours of the absence.
If an absence can be excused with a medical note, please provide the office with a copy.
After 7 excused absences, you will begin receiving letters which will include information regarding your child’s current attendance, attendance laws, and board policy.• Unexcused Absences:
If parents do not notify the front office of the reason for a child’s absence within 24 hours, the absence will be coded as unexcused and may trigger a truancy review.
In addition, absences may be coded as unexcused if they become excessive as defined by Arizona State Law.
If your child has a chronic illness that results in him/her missing more than 10% of the school days in the year, please request a chronic illness form from the school nurse to be completed by your child’s physician.Attendance letters will be emailed home at 5 and 10 excused or unexcused absences. Should you have any questions regarding your child's attendance, please contact our school at 480-677-7510.
