• Dear Parents/Guardians,

     

    Cactus Canyon Junior High Athletics is excited for the 2022-2023 school year. We are happy that we will be participating in the Cactus Athletic Association (CAA) starting this year. Our league offers eight sports over four seasons, with the seasons matching up with the four quarters.

     

    1. Baseball and Girls’ Volleyball

    2. Softball and Wrestling

    3. Football and Girls Basketball

    4. Boys’ Basketball and Coed Soccer

    We will have one team for each sport that will compete, we will not be having an “A” and “B” team (pending no limitations from the COVID pandemic). Try-outs will occur at the start of each season to select the athletes. Activity buses will not be available for the 2022-2023 school-year; therefore, transportation following athletic practice/events from CCJH to home will be the responsibility of the parents/guardians.

     

    Students interested in participating in a sport will need to complete an Athletic Participation Packet. Packets are available in the Athletics office and online through the CCJH website. Students will need to have a current physical on file in the health office in order to be cleared to try out for any team. A current physical must be dated on/after March 1st for the following school year. (physicals dated March 1, 2022 or later are good for all of the 2022-2023 school year). 

     

    AJUSD policy requires student athletes to have health insurance and provide a copy of that insurance to the Athletics Office.  If your student does not have insurance, the Athletics Office can assist in obtaining low cost insurance for the duration of the sports season your child is participating in. 

     

    This year in lieu of a $100 “Participation Fee”, Apache Junction Unified Schools would like to encourage every parent to contribute $50 or more to the CCJH Athletics Tax Credit. These monies can be used to lower your taxable income so you will get that contribution back during tax season. There is no guarantee of playing time in competition for any athlete.  Please note that some sports may require additional money for sport specific equipment.  This will be communicated by the coaches. If you would like to contribute your fees and apply it towards the Athletics tax credit, please see the secretary in the CCJH office.
