Welcome to Ms. Terri's Page
My name is Terri Rhinesmith and I am a special education teacher. I love my job and hope it shows in the way I teach my students.
We have changed the name of our special education program. My program is now known as the Future Readiness Program, 3rd - 6th grade.
To tell you just a little about me, I was born in NJ and moved to Arizona with my family in October of 1999. In NJ, I worked as an instructional aide for students who had severe disabilities for about 20 years. I started working for the district in December of 1999 as an instructional aide in Mrs. Mejia's classroom. She encouraged me to get my teaching certificate. I attended Central Arizona College to get my Associates Degree. Went on to get my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education at Prescott College and continued on to get my Master's Degree in Special Education at Grand Canyon University. Although the name has changed, I have been teaching in the same program since 2008 here at Peralta Trail. This summer, the self contained special education teachers of AJUSD attended a TEACCH Training and we are all now certified in Structured Teaching Method. I believe in this method and this will be the method I use in my classroom.
I am married and have three wonderful children, two daughters who live out here in AZ and a son who lives in FL. I also have 8 terrific grandchildren, the youngest was just born on May 26th, 2018! I had a great summer spoiling our new little arrival Kieran Dale!
We will start the year with two paraprofessionals, Ms. Debbie, who worked in my classroom last year and Ms. Sandy. Ms. Sandy will be new to our class, but has been a para in other classes in the district for many years. I'm sure I can speak for Ms. Debbie and Ms. Sandy by saying we look forward to working with all of your children and thank you all for sharing them with us.
