Hello, 

My name is Danny Powell and I will be the 8th Grade Social Studies teacher here at Cactus Canyon Junior High School. This is my second year at CCJH, and trust me, its awesome! A few things about me.

I was born in West Covina, California and moved to Arizona when I was ten. I graduated from Greenway High School in the North Valley and attended Arizona State University. I majored in History and graduated Cum Laude. I earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Arizona State University and now live with my family in Gilbert. 

I enjoy sports, primarily Baseball and get in as many rounds of Golf as I can. I am looking forward to another exciting and educational year to share my passion of history with the students here in Apache Junction.

My grading policy requires students to be active learners in the classroom which will involve a healthy variety of differentiated instructional methods to keep the kids engaged. Grading is weighted heavy on classroom assignments. We apply the AVID Interactive Notebook which will require each student to maintain a composition book (required) throughout the course of the year. Additional supplies such as colored pencils and glue sticks are welcome.

The State of Arziona has made a few changes to the required Social Studies Standards. It is my opinion that new scope will enrich our students with a broader knowledge of their role as the future caretakers of our Democracy. I have listed these below along with a link.
