Elizabeth Hinton's Title 1 Reading Groups
Our district uses standardized testing, to identify students who could benefit from extra instruction. This data indicates that some children are 'at risk' in the category of Reading. Therefore, these children are selected to receive additional assistance and meet with me in a small group setting. This program is designed to help students strengthen his or her reading ability.
A little about me: I am originally from Chicago, Illinois but have lived in Gilbert, Arizona for the past 21 years. My husband and I have 5 children. Our youngest daughter is a senior in high school this year, the rest have graduated college. The picture below shows our four daughters, our son, and our son-in-law.
I obtained my undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University and my Master's Degree and Reading Endorsement from Grand Canyon University. I have previously worked as a Librarian in the Gilbert School District and as a 6th grade Reading teacher at Peralta Trail Elementary (Apache Junction School District).
This will be my 8th year at Desert Vista as a Reading Intervention Specialist. I am excited to work with your child. We will be having a great time while we learn to read, apply comprehension strategies, and discuss our literature!Studies show that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement.
