Igneous Rocks

  • IGNEOUS ROCKS

The first thing you're going to want to do is make a Fold-able that looks like the one over to the right --> -->  -->
(We'll do this part together, just in case...)

OUTSIDE TOP FLAP: Write "How are igneous rocks formed?"

INSIDE TOP FLAP: Please answer the question using the following resources:

    *** Textbook page A82

OUTSIDE LEFT FLAP: (Divide this flap into a top half & bottom half)

TOP: Write "Describe EXTRUSIVE Igneous Rocks"
    BOTTOM: Write "Examples"

INSIDE LEFT FLAP: Please identify characteristics of extrusive igneous rocks using the following resources. Also include at least one or two examples.

    *** Textbook pages A83 & A87

OUTSIDE RIGHT FLAP: (Divide this flap into a top half & bottom half)

TOP: Write "Describe INTRUSIVE Igneous Rocks"
    BOTTOM: Write "Examples"

INSIDE RIGHT FLAP: Please identify characteristics of intrusive igneous rocks using the following resources. Also include at least one or two examples.

    *** Textbook pages A83 & A86

OUTSIDE BOTTOM FLAP: Write "Igneous Rock Textures"

INSIDE CENTER: You should have 6 triangles drawn, just like the 2nd photo above.

*** SIGN IN TO GALILEO. FIND THE DIALOG CALLED: CLASSIFYING ROCKS & MINERALS. SKIP TO SLIDES 12 & 13.

Record details about each type of igneous rock texture in the triangles (1 texture description per triangle.)

Raise your hand and have Mrs. Ligon check your work. :)
