About me

  • My name is Marla Aehlert and this is my eighteenth year in AJUSD.  In those years, I have taught 3rd Grade, 6th Grade Math, and Junior High Math.  Hmmm, I must love Math.  (Ya think?)

I also love meeting new students!  I can’t wait to see how much we can learn together!

I have been working with children of all ages since 1993. In addition to teaching elementary and junior-high school, my experiences include working in the social services in group home and shelter settings, teaching and administration at the preschool level, and many years of schooling. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California at Irvine, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University. I also obtained a Certificate of Early Childhood Education at Rancho Santiago College in California. I completed my Arizona Certification through University of Phoenix.

In my personal time, I love to read and spend time with my family.  I am also an avid hula hoop dancer, and if the music is good, you'll probably find me hooping to it!

My goal as a teacher is to make learning exciting for all students and help them develop a special love for learning that will last a lifetime.

Welcome to everyone and we are going to have a great year!
