Sixth Grade Accelerated Math Academy
The Apache Junction Unified School District is again offering an Accelerated Math Academy for the 2019-2020 school year. The academy is available by invitation only to 2019-2020 sixth grade students who have been selected using specific qualifying criteria. The criteria used to identify qualifying students included 2019 AzMerit Math Scores, Galileo Assessment History Results, classroom math performance, teacher recommendations, and Cognitive Abilities Scores (Gifted/Talented) when applicable.
The goal of the Apache Junction Unified School District is to prepare students for higher level math courses throughout their junior high and high school years. The Accelerated Math Academy provides students with accelerated sixth grade curriculum, seventh grade math standards, and the onset of Pre-Algebra. Successful completion of the Accelerated Math Academy will place students in an advanced math class in junior high, setting them on the path to reach Calculus courses in high school prior to graduation.
The Accelerated Math Academy takes place on each of the elementary campuses. Students attend the Accelerated Math Academy for 57- 75 minutes each day during the sixth grade math block. This ensures that they do not miss instruction in any other subject area.
We are so proud of our students!
