Monday,
April 21, 2008 at approximately 11:25 a.m., Apache Junction
High School, Desert Shadows Middle School, Mountain
Shadows Educational Center, and the District Administrative
Center all went into Code Red Lockdown when authorities
were alerted to a bomb threat at the high school.
The
policy of Lockdowns until the validity of the bomb threat
is ascertained is one that has been established in cooperation
with authorities. The safety and security of our students
is always our highest priority.
Apache
Junction Police Department personnel investigated and,
following a sweep of the campus, no explosive device
was found, after which an ALL CLEAR was called. It is
believed that this was a prank call.
Bomb
threats can be a felony offense and perpetrators can
also be charged with disrupting the activities of an
educational institution. Person(s) responsible will
be prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law.
